Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Noel Whelan has tipped Leeds United to make it “third time lucky” in their rumoured pursuit of Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson.
A report from Football Insider emerged earlier this month claiming that the door had been opened for Leeds United to swoop in for Liverpool winger Harry Wilson. The report claimed Liverpool will be listening to offers for the Welshman for a cut-price in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Now, former Leeds United player and pundit Noel Whelan has weighed in on the rumours of his former side’s pursuit for Wilson. Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan moved to heap praise on the Liverpool man, tipping Leeds to make it “third time lucky” and bring him to Elland Road this summer. He said:
“It could be third time lucky. He has gone to Bournemouth and Derby previously (instead of Leeds).
“He is a player that is admired by Marcelo Bielsa and a player that fits the bill when you look at style of play – an attacking midfielder that has technical ability on the ball. He has a little taste of Premier League football so if he is available I think Leeds will be interested.
“He seems like a very, very exciting player and a good addition. Coming from Liverpool, he has a great pedigree and he has proven his worth at Derby. There is a player there.”
Wilson, 23, has been linked with a move to Leeds United before. However, both times the Whites showed interest, he ended up joining Derby County and Bournemouth. In his loan spells away from Liverpool, Wilson has thoroughly impressed.
He starred during loan spells with Hull City and Derby and in his first season of Premier League football, he has not disappointed. Bournemouth have struggled at times, but with the Cherries, Wilson has scored six goals and provided two assists in 27 appearances.
With the summer transfer window on the horizon, it will be interesting o see how Wilson’s situation pans out.
