Former Liverpool star Jordon Ibe has been released by Ebbsfleet United after just one appearance for the club.

Ibe signed for the National League side in October and was praised for dropping down the leagues to get his career back on track.

However, the 28-year-old made just one appearance for the club, coming off the bench.

That cameo appearance only lasted six minutes against Oldham Athletic in February.

The winger has been released by Ebbsfleet, as well as seven other players after the club avoided relegation on the final day of the season after drawing 0-0 against Boreham Wood.

Ibe joined Liverpool in 2011 as a 16-year-old, making 58 appearances for the club before leaving five years later in a £15million deal to Bournemouth.

He had signed for the Reds from Wycombe Wanderers, where he was heralded as a wonderkid with a huge future.

In total, he played 119 times in the Premier League, as well as having spells at Derby County and in Turkey with Adanaspor.

Mental health issues affected the Englishman over his career and his last appearance in league football in this country came in December 2020 as a substitute for Derby in a 0-0 draw against Stoke.

Ibe is not the only former Liverpool star leaving Ebbsfleet, with David Amoo also on the release list.

While Ibe might be one of several players departing the Kent side this summer, it is often common practice for non-league clubs to lose the majority of their squad every year.

Only six players remain contracted to the Fleet while they are talking to 12 others on their books over extending their part-time deals for another year.

Jamie Carragher insists Mo Salah isn't the only Liverpool star with a questionable future at the club and calls out the likes of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez

Where Ibe will end up next remains to be seen and at 28, there is still a way back for the forward.
